Manufacturing industry is the main body of industry,and also an important pillar of economic development.It is the convergence point of core competitiveness.How to achieve the transformation and upgrading of Henan's manufacturing industry so as to occupying higher-end links in the value chain and improving profitability are the concerns of many scholars.As a traditional industrial province,it is important and urgent to study the status quo and influencing factors of the manufacturing value chain in Henan and the impact of technological innovation on the rising value chain of manufacturing.By combing the relevant literatures of domestic and foreign scholars on technological innovation and value chain climbing,this paper constructs 12 index systems that reflect the rising value chain,and collects sample data of 20 manufacturing industries in Henan Province from 2006 to 2016.The Principal Component Analysis method measures the horizontal and vertical values of the value chain of each industry,and obtains the scores,rankings and trends of the climbing situation of various industries.The study found that the manufacturing value chain has generally risen,but in recent years there has been a small fluctuation and a short-term decline.The empirical analysis part uses the panel data of 20 manufacturing industries from 2006 to 2016,and analyzes the manufacturing industry,high-tech industry and low-tech industry respectively.The technical innovation as the core explanatory variable selects the R&D personnel investment and R&D capital investment.The indicators,at the same time,selected the three types of industrial energy value-added comprehensive energy consumption,intangible assets ratio,sales profit rate,and the three variables representing the value chain of the proposed variable construction model and regression analysis.After that,the regression is carried out with several influencing factors such as technological innovation,regional specialization level,enterprise scale,capital intensity,and institutional innovation.The intermediate analysis process uses descriptive statistics,Hosman test,stationarity test and regression analysis.The following are the research results: technological innovation as a core explanatory variable plays an important role in promoting the improvement of the manufacturing value chain,and the impact on the high-tech industry is greater than the impact on the low-tech industry.Finally,this article proposes effective policy recommendations for government and industy.This research enriches the relevant theories of manufacturing technology innovation and value chain climbing,and provides some reference ideas for how Henan manufacturing industry can achieve value chain climbing.
