With the deepening of the international division of labor, in China, international trades are extensively promoted, all kinds of firms have actively integrated into the global value chain, and the economic strength has been greatly improved. However, generally speaking, China’s manufacturing industry is still in the low-end of the global value chain. And in recent years, as the primary productive forces, technological innovation has been playing an increasingly important role in the rising of global value chains. So, China has gradually increased the intensity of investment in science and technology, greatly encouraged enterprises to develop high value-added products, vigorously developed high-tech industries, and made great efforts to continually promote its manufacturing industry to the high-end of global value chain.The framework of this paper is as follows. Firstly, based on relevant researches on technological innovation and industrial value chain upgrading, this paper analyzed the situation of manufacturing value chain in China, and identified some problems existed in it; Secondly, this paper explored the influencing factors of manufacturing value chain and the influencing mechanism of technology innovation on manufacturing value chain; Again, using panel data, this paper verified the specific influence of technology innovation on the promotion of manufacturing value chain; At the same time, with a model of DEA, this paper assessed the impact of different manufacturing technological innovations on its industrial value chain, and thus proposed corresponding countermeasures. Overall, this paper not only enriched relevant theoretical knowledge of technological innovation and manufacturing value chain upgrading, but also provided some guide to enhancing China’s manufacturing value chain upgrading. Hence, this paper has certain theoretical and practical significance.
