Research On Chinese Multinational Enterprises Outward Foreign Direct Investment Reverse Technology Spillover

With the globalization of world's economy,the role of emerging market becoming increasingly essential,the Chinese MNEs start to engaging in the international trading and take larger parts day by day as well.Under this circumstance,the Chinese MNEs OFDI behaviors arise many scholars' attention and becoming one of the researching subject.Among research related to Chinese MNEs OFDI,the discussion mainly focuses on technical influences on Chinese MNEs,.The issue of enhancing financial performance brought by OFDI,however,is not widely discussed.To promote OFDI of Chinese MNEs,evaluating the lifting effect of OFDI on financial performance of MNEs,the key is locating probable problems during the MNEs' OFDI behavior.Based on the above background,this dissertation examines the reverse technology spillover effects bring by OFDI on the innovation and financial performance of Chinese MNEs.In the theoretic research,this dissertation reviewed FDI related theories and current research status on Chinese MNEs OFDI reverse technology spillover.In the empirical analysis part,this dissertation selected 48 Chinese MNEs' 2010 to 2015 panel data using Thompson One,Orbis Bureau van Dijk and Wind databases.In the comparative case study part,this dissertation selected cases have included M&A transactions announced in the period between 2000 and 2012,re-evaluating the post-OFDI financial performance of Chinese MNEs,testifying the empirical analysis' results.The main conclusion is as follow: Chinese MNEs will get reverse technology spillover from OFDI,and their innovation performance and financial performance will be enhanced throughout this process.In a longer period,however,the improving rate of their financial performance will decline.Based on the findings of this dissertation,recommendations for practice are proposed for future development of Chinese MNEs,and the limitations of this dissertation are addressed clearly.
