Study On The Development Of Konjac Industry In Enshi Prefecture

Enshi Prefecture of Hubei Province is located between the Wuling Mountains and the Daba Mountain in the east of the Yungui Plateau in the southwest of Hubei Province.It is dominated by mountains and has unique climatic conditions.The unique geographical environment and abundant natural resources make Enshi Prefecture a suitable area for the development of the Konjac industry.In 1998,the Hubei Provincial Government made a decision to vigorously promote the industrialization of Konjac,planning Enshi Prefecture as a key area for industrial development;in 2003,Enshi Prefecture was designated as the key support of Hubei Province's “Korean Plate”;National Development and Reform Commission,Ministry of Agriculture,The Ministry of Finance has also included the development of Enshi konjac resources into poverty alleviation and development projects.In recent years,the whole state has used the konjac industry as a “six hundred double five” project to develop modern characteristic agriculture and increase farmers' income.Further development,Konjac,as one of the special planting industries of Enshi,has very considerable economic benefits and has always been one of the characteristic industries of Enshi Prefecture.The development of the konjac industry is conducive to Enshi Prefecture to play a regional advantage,to drive farmers out of poverty and to revitalize the local economy.However,there are many problems in the development of Enshi Prefecture's konjac that hinder the development of the industry.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the Enshi Prefecture's konjac industry,find problems and propose effective countermeasures.First of all,this paper aims to improve the development level of Enshi Prefecture's Konjac industry.Based on the actual situation of Enshi Konjac industry development,under the support of the theory of industrial integration and value chain theory,through field research,interviews with Konjac companies to collect data.Combined with relevant literature at home and abroad,the research ideas were cleared.Secondly,it introduces the geographical overview of Enshi Prefecture and the development history of Konjac industry,analyzes the production and output status of Konjac industry in Enshi Prefecture for more than ten years,and compares it with other special planting industries in Enshi Prefecture in terms of economic benefits.Other domestic konjac production areas were compared for research.The results show that the Enshi konjac industry is an industry with good economic benefits and great development potential.However,there are still some gaps in the konjac industry in other regions.There are still many problems in the development of Enshi konjac industry,such as In recent years,the base has shrunk,the planting area has decreased,the supporting services have not been followed up,and the scale of leading enterprises has not been large.These problems are the weakness of Enshi konjac in the face of fierce market competition and need to be resolved.Finally,according to the existence of several major problems in the development of Enshi Prefecture's Konjac industry,it is suggested that:we should use science and technology to cultivate new varieties;investment in konjac industry should be strengthened;service about the konjac industry should be improved.It is the way to help Enshi konjac industry to develop faster and better.
