The Silk Road has become one of the world's classic tourist routes with its unique charm and development potential due to its numerous cultural heritages. The Silk Road tourism, promoting the interconnection between countries along the “Belt and Road”,has become a new engine for tourism development in countries and regions along the route, including the historical opportunity for China's silk road areas. With the development and progress of Internet technology, the tourism digital footprint derived from online travel content provides a new direction for the study of tourism flow space network. How to graspe the nodes among various cities and scenic spots, the routes and overall spatial network structure characteristics presented by the tourist flow, and master the spatial network status quo of the Silk Road tourism development,so as to better deepen marketing and regional tourism cooperation. There is an urgent need to think about it.From the perspective of the trans-regional and large-scale facet, this paper takes the world cultural heritage Silk Road(China section)as the research object.Firstly, this paper gives an overall review of the tourism development for the Silk Road regions from four aspects: tourism resources distribution, tourism economic level, tourism traffic conditions and regional tourism development level.Secondly, through digital footprint, social network analysis,GIS and other various theories and methods, this research making the city as the node, explores the time and space characteristics and network structure of tourists by selecting and analyzing online travel notes and photos with the theme of the Silk Road from 2014 to 2018,and relevant conclusions are drawn as below:(1)Time and space features. The Silk Road theme tours has strong seasonality, and the May and October are considered to be the tourism peak, the average length of travel is7.8 days;Tourists visiting attractions are involved a wide range along the Silk Road, where the hot spots are highly concentrated. There are vivid differences between the spatial distribution of tourism resources in six provinces and the hot spots along the Silk Road.In addition,it is found that the tourists' preference for the Silk Road tourism products are mostly natural scenery and heritage sites, showing that the products are relatively single. In terms of tourism route, the spatial pattern of the Silk Road tourism route is mainly the regional tour mode and the single destination mode. The highest frequency located between the length of 3 and 8,and meanwhile the length of the line is obviously negatively correlated with the frequency of the tourist flow.(2)From the network structure features. The Silk Road tourism flow network structure is not balanced, where the overall density is low and the correlation between nodes is not high. The connectivity is quite close among the five provinces, including Qinghai,Gansu,Xinjiang,Ningxia and Shaanxi,as well as frequent connection within each inner provinces. As for Henan Province, only few cities appear on the Silk Road network flow structure with far connectivity with one another. The function of city nodes is quite different from each other,in which some cities have not fully played their respective functions.According to the distribution degree of tourism flow and the ability to undertake intermediaries, the Silk Road urban tourism nodes are divided into five levels: core tourism nodes,sub-core tourism nodes, important tourist nodes, general tourist nodes and edge tourism nodes. Finally, the research finds the problems through the analysis of the current situation of the spatial network structure of the Silk Road tourism flow, and proposes targeted and pertinent suggestions:(1)to develop new tourism products;(2)to strengthen the design of tourism route;(3)to upgrade the functions of some nodes and optimize the structure of the tourism flow network;(4)to establish an overall tourism development concept, promote the optimization and upgrade of the Silk Road tourism structure...
