Producer Services Agglomeration And Quality Upgrade Of Export Products

Since the fortieth anniversary of reform and opening up,China's export trade volume has continued to grow and gradually become the largest trading country in the world.However,the division of labor in the global value chain of China's manufacturing industry is still low,and the export competitive advantage is mainly dependent on low-price competition.The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the "high-quality development" in the general context,how to change from "price for quantity" to "quality for quantity",and to maintain the sustainability of export growth is a hot issue of government and academic attention.The development experience at home and abroad and existing research show that the support role of producer services industry in manufacturing industry helps to solve the development dilemma of manufacturing industry,and the development form of industrial agglomeration will further expand this positive effect.Will producer services agglomeration help improve the quality upgrade of manufacturing export products?This article takes the two different modes of single agglomeration of producer services industry and co-agglomeration with manufacturing industry as the research entry point.By incorporating the production decisions of the producer service sector into the firm product quality heterogeneity model,constructing the theoretical relationship between the agglomeration of producer services industry and the quality of export products,combined with the preliminary conclusions of descriptive analysis,put forward the research hypothesis of this article,and based on this,use the panel data at the provincial level for empirical tests and further analysis of the regional heterogeneity,industry heterogeneity,and the robustness of the effects of external shocks.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The quality of China's manufacturing export products from 2004 to 2017 showed the W-type change trend,the adjustment of the export product structure after the financial shock and the improvement of the manufacturing capacity of high-quality products were the main reasons for the two growths.(2)The two agglomeration modes of the single agglomeration in producer services industry and co-agglomeration with the manufacturing industry are both conducive to the improvement of export product quality.However,the congestion effect has emerged under the single agglomeration mode,which makes the effect of single agglomeration on the quality of manufacturing export products be inverted U-shaped.(3)The agglomeration effect of the producer services industry has regional and industry heterogeneity.The difference of industrial development level and resource elements and agglomeration non-marketization are the main reasons for the regional differentiation of the agglomeration effect.The industry heterogeneity comes from the difference in demand for producer services by the manufacturing industry.(4)Financial shocks will inhibit the producer services industry agglomeration effect of improving the quality of export products,while tax shocks have no significant effect on agglomeration effects.In combination with the above research conclusions,in order to exert the promotion effect of the producer services industry agglomeration on the quality of export manufacturing products,this article proposes corresponding policy recommendations from the following three aspects:(1)Promote the both industry to a higher level of the industrial chain and build a good industrial foundation.(2)Proper use the agglomeration tools of producer services industries and strengthen intcrrcgional collaboration.(3)Create favorable conditions for producer services agglomeration and guide the industries agglomerate effectively.
