Research On The Influence Of Productive Service Industry Agglomeration And Urban Size On Urban Productivity

Along with the new normal of China's economic development,urban development and industrial restructuring will affect China's economic development importantly at this stage.Therefore,how to take the road of urbanization and how to promote the industrial structure has become an important task at present.The productive service industry,which is closely related to the manufacturing industry,is playing an increasingly important role in urban economic development as an intermediate service industry.The productive service industry can become the key to lead the industrial chain to the higher end and improve the overall economic efficiency.At the same time,the urban size can reflect the industrial structure of the city and the city's demand for the productive service industry to some extent.Therefore,based on the above considerations,this paper focuses on the analysis of the impact of productive service agglomeration and urban scale on urban productivity.First of all,this paper sorts out and summarizes the relevant domestic and foreign literatures on the relationship between productive service industry agglomeration,urban size and urban productivity.After a brief review,the main problems and innovations of this paper are proposed.Secondly,this paper conducts relevant theoretical analysis and constitutes the theoretical basis of the article.It analyzes the influence mechanism of productive service industry agglomeration on urban productivity,urban size on urban productivity,and also analyzes the influence mechanism of productive service industry agglomeration and urban size.The research hypothesis of this paper is proposed by analyzing the influence mechanism.Subsequently,this paper selects the data of 267 cities in China from 2003 to 2016,and uses panel threshold model and fixed effect model to empirically research on the relationship between productive service industry agglomeration,urban size and urban productivity,dealing with heteroscedasticity,sequence correlation and cross-section related issues,and further examining its industry heterogeneity.Through robustness testing and endogeneity test,we conclude that the research hypothesis is basically consistent.According to theoretical analysis and empirical test,this paper concludes that the urban size and urban productivity show an inverted "U"relationship,and the city has the optimal scale.The impact of agglomeration of productive services on urban productivity is constrained by the size of the city.In small cities,the gathering of productive service industries hinders the improvement of urban productivity,only after the threshold value across the urban scale,agglomeration of productive services can promote urban productivity,The reference urban size threshold given in this paper is 822,700.Finally,according to the conclusion,this paper puts forward the targeted policy recommendations.In cities of different sizes,the government should design inclined urbanization construction policies to help cities achieve their optimal size.The agglomeration of productive services should not be carried out blindly.Small cities should focus on manufacturing,and large cities should concentrate on productive service.Productive service at different levels should be clustered according to different conditions.Small cities should give priority to develop low-end productive service,while large cities should pay attention to the simultaneous agglomeration of high-end and low-end productive service.The innovation of this paper is to add the perspective of city scale to investigate whether the impact of productive service industry agglomeration on city productivity is constrained by urban size.In the empirical research,the panel threshold model is used to study nonlinear effects,to make up for the shortcomings of the traditional grouping test and cross term model,and to accurately estimate the threshold value,so as to avoid the possible errors caused by artificial division of intervals.In terms of data selection,this paper uses national data to draw more general conclusions.Considering the possible disadvantages,the further research direction of this paper is to construct a theoretical model suitable for studying the relationship between productive service agglomeration,urban size and urban productivity,selecting more comprehensive indicators,extending the sample to county-level cities at the same time.
