The theory of enterprise life cycle reflects that the whole development process of an enterprise will go through four stages,namely,entrepreneurship,growth,maturity and recession.According to statistics of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other relevant departments,the number of small and medium-sized enterprises in our country has reached more than 30 million(accounting for more than 90% of the total number of enterprises),and the proportion of small and medium-sized enterprises in the growing period is about 80%.In addition,the growth period is not only an important turning point in the development of enterprises,but also a bridge from the difficult stage of entrepreneurship to the mature stage.At the same time,the growth period is also the "high incidence period" of various problems of enterprises,because many small and medium-sized enterprises "die" in the growth stage every year.Therefore,to solve the problems encountered in the growth stage of enterprises is the decisive factor for enterprises to achieve sustainable development.Performance appraisal,as one of the key links of performance management,is an important tool to help enterprise managers find and solve the problems existing in the enterprise,so as to achieve the strategic objectives of the enterprise.So far,although the research on performance appraisal of small and medium-sized enterprises has made rich achievements in theory and practice,there are still various problems that are not comprehensive enough,such as performance appraisal is not treated differently according to different life cycles of enterprises.As far as enterprises are concerned,they have different characteristics and problems in different life cycle stages.Therefore,enterprises in different stages should implement targeted performance appraisal methods.Therefore,it is very necessary to study and determine the performance appraisal methods suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises in the growth period to help them successfully go through the growth stage.This paper is based on this research background.First of all,the literature research method is used to describe the theory of enterprise life cycle,performance appraisal related research literature at home and abroad.Furthermore,combined with the characteristics and problems of small and medium-sized enterprises in the growth period,the KPI is moresuitable for small and medium-sized enterprises in the growth period than other assessment methods.Secondly,the case analysis method(taking small and medium-sized enterprise X company a case)is adopted to determine that company X is in the growth period of enterprise life cycle through the company's financial data and characteristic performance.Then interview method and questionnaire method are used to analyze and summarize the existing problems of X company's current performance appraisal system.Finally,according to the theoretical research results,based on the core idea of KPI,on the basis of the original performance appraisal method of X company,combined with the actual situation of the company,a performance appraisal form is designed for the sales personnel.In the design process,this paper uses fishbone analysis method to determine the key performance indicators,and the setting of index weight is to select the weight factor judgment table method.At the same time,suggestions such as the establishment of reward system and performance feedback system are put forward,and the performance appraisal scheme of X company in the growth period is comprehensively constructed,hoping to provide management reference for the performance appraisal of small and medium-sized enterprises in the growth period through this research.
