In the past two years, the international economy has been sluggish and external demand has shrunk. The United States continues to wage trade wars against our country, constraining a growth model that has long relied on exports. In terms of investment,China has been continuously deleveraging and destocking in recent years.Relying on extensive project demolition and construction is not sustainable.China's economic growth has entered a new stage dominated by domestic demand.China's consumer market is huge, and residents' disposable income is increasing rapidly, while the savings rate is still high. How to release residents' consumption, especially the consumption of rural residents,is an effective means to rapidly increase China's economic growth.Population is the main body of the market economy activity, the consumption problem in our country must consider the changes in the population structure, this paper will be divided into natural structure and social structure, population structure and population natural structure of subdivided into population age structure and sex structure, the social structure of the population niche for education structure and employment structure of the population. At the same time,on the basis of dividing consumption into eight categories such as food and clothing according to the statistical yearbook, consumption is further divided into subsistence consumption, enjoyment consumption and development consumption in order to further study the impact of demographic changes on the changes in consumption structure and the upgrading of consumption structure. This paper is divided into eight chapters to study the impact of demographic changes on rural consumption.Chapter one: introduction. This chapter introduces the research problems from the research background, then introduces the research purpose, research significance, research ideas and methods, and finally sorts out the domestic and foreign scholars' research reviews, laying a foundation for the research of this paper.Chapter two: concept definition and theoretical basis. This chapter firstly introduces the concepts of population structure, consumption structure, consumption level and consumption structure upgrade, which makes the subsequent context of the article clearer.Secondly,it introduces the population transformation theory, consumption function theory and Marx's consumption theory to provide theoretical basis for the article.Chapter three: analysis of the changing trend of China's rural population structure.Mainly from the two aspects of social structure and natural structure of population, this paper expounds the changing trend of rural population in China.Chapter four: analysis of the current situation and changing characteristics of the consumption structure of rural residents in China. This part firstly studies the current situation of rural residents in China, and finds that although the total consumption of rural residents in China has improved significantly, compared with the economic development speed of the country, the consumption rate of both rural residents and urban residents is still at a low level.Secondly,it analyzes the change characteristics of rural residents' consumption from eight categories of expenditure, such as food and clothing.Chapter five: the mechanism and research hypothesis of the change of population structure on residents' consumption structure. This part analyzes theinfluence mechanism of population structure change on consumption structure from qualitative and quantitative perspectives, and puts forward the hypotheses.Chapter six:empirical analysis on the influence of rural population structure change on consumption structure upgrade.Using the provincial panel data in rural areas of this part,by building the seven fixed effects model discusses the influence of population structure seven categories of consumer spending,on the basis of general consumption into necessity,enjoyment,development-oriented three categories,by constructing fixed effect model to study the effect of demographic change on consumption structure upgrade.Chapter 7:conclusions and countermeasures.Suggestions are put forward to improve the social security system, explore the rural consumption market, pay attention to education investment, introduce high-quality talents, optimize the consumption structure through rational use of the price mechanism, accelerate the construction of logistics, and promote the development of e-commerce.Through empirical analysis,we find that the change of population structure changes the consumption structure. The proportion of the elderly in the population structure and the level of education have a significant influence on the overall consumption expenditure.Demographic changes have the most significant impact on food expenditure, followed by household equipment and supplies expenditure and education and entertainment expenditure, and almost no impact on clothing expenditure. On this basis,a model of the influence of population structure change on the consumption structure upgrade is constructed, and the following conclusions are drawn:the impact of rural population structure change on the consumption expenditure of rural residents is different. From the perspective of various variables of population structure, the proportion of elderly population, sex ratio and education level have significant influence on the upgrading of consumption structure, while the proportion of young children and non-agricultural employment have no significant influence on the upgrading of consumption structure. The increase in the proportion of young children, the proportion of elderly population, the gender ratio and education level will promote the upgrading of the consumption structure, while the increase in the proportion of non-agricultural employment, per capita net income of rural residents and the price level will inhibit the upgrading of the consumption structure.Among them, the proportion of elderly population, education level and price level have a greater impact on the upgrading of consumption structure. However, the increase of the elderly population, the increase of the gender ratio promotes the upgrading of the consumption structure, and the increase of the non-agricultural employment ratio inhibits the upgrading of the consumption structure, which is contrary to the hypothesis proposed in this paper. This may be because the time span of the sample data in this paper is not enough. The increased consumption demand of the elderly population in rural areas in culture, education, entertainment, transportation and communication promotes the consumption upgrade in a short term.Followed by the main body of this paper for the rural residents, rural residents to secondary and tertiary industries mostly after work in the foundation industry related,is still in the low level of wages, increase the support to agriculture in countries at the same time engaged in primary industry of the rural residents incomeincreasing rapidly,so in the short term, employment of the consumption structure has no significant inhibitory effect.
