At present,China is in the period of promoting high-quality economic development with efficiency reform.Equipment manufacturing industry,as the cornerstone of manufacturing development,continues to accelerate its pace towards the mid-to-high end of the global industrial chain under the guidance of the manufacturing power strategy.Hebei Province is an important industrial base in China,and the equipment manufacturing industry has become the leader of the province's industrial economy in recent years.However,there is still a certain gap in the quality of its development compared with the advanced provinces across the country,and it faces prominent problems such as lack of core technology,severe homogeneous competition,lack of intelligent products.Therefore,under the background of the macro strategy of Made in China 2025,Hebei Province starts from improving the total factor productivity(TFP)and accelerates the transformation,upgrading,and innovation development of equipment manufacturing industry,which are of great practical and long-term significance to promote the advanced equipment manufacturing industry to become an important engine of its economic development.This thesis focuses on the evaluation of total factor productivity of Hebei's equipment manufacturing industry and its influencing factors.The main research contents and conclusions include the following aspects: First of all,it describes the development effect and main problems of Hebei's equipment manufacturing industry in recent years,in order to understand and grasp its actual development status.Secondly,the BCC model and Malmquist index method based on DEA are used to measure and analyze the overall technical efficiency and TFP of the equipment manufacturing industry in 30 provinces of mainland China(excluding Tibet)and its subdivided industries in Hebei Province.It is found that Hebei Province is at the middle and lower level,and there are great differences in the efficiency levels among its internal industries,and technological progress is the main driving factor for the improvement of TFP in this industry.Thirdly,based on the above measured data,taking TFP and its decomposition efficiency as explained variables,an empirical model is constructed by using the panel data of equipment manufacturing industry in Hebei Province,and the comprehensive Generalized Feasible Least Square method(FGLS)is used to analyze their influencing factors.It can be concluded that: R&D investment intensity,laborer quality,ownership structure,industrial scale and the level of opening up have significant effects on the improvement of TFP.Among the above factors,the impact of industrial scale and the level of opening to the outside world on the change of technical efficiency is not significant,and the impact of ownership structure on the technological progress is not significant,other factors have significant effects on them.Finally,combining the empirical research results of this thesis with the existing problems,the corresponding policy recommendations for speeding up the high-quality development of Hebei's equipment manufacturing industry are proposed: strengthen R&D investment,improve the construction of innovation system;implement talent introduction,advance brand competitiveness;promote structural optimization,push the reform of state-owned enterprises;expand industrial scale,build an open development platform.
