With the continuous advancement of economic globalization, the international division of labor has gradually changed from "inter-industry" to "intra-industry" and "intra-product" divisions, and intermediate trade has gradually replaced final trade as the mainstream of international trade.Since the reform and opening up,benefiting from the reform of the international division of labor model,China's manufacturing exports have developed rapidly, and China have emerged as the "world factory" that has attracted worldwide attention. However, the situation of China's manufacturing industry being "big but not strong" has not been improved. In the global value chain division of labor system,it has remained at the low-end position for a long time.Especially in recent years,on one hand China's manufacturing industry is facing the dual impact of “high-end reflow” in developed countries and “low-end diversion” in Emerging economies;on the other hand China's manufacturing industry also internally faces the dilemma that the demographic dividend is not available and the traditional OEM export development model is unsustainable. The transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing industry and the improvement of the status of global value chain division of labor are imminent. In the context of the digital economy, with the new generation of digital technology's digital transformation of traditional manufacturing, not only has it spawned a new organization, production mode and innovative model, but it will also have a certain effect on the transformation and upgrading of traditional manufacturing and the promotion of the status of international division of labor.Based on this, studying the theoretical mechanism of the impact of digitization on the promotion of the GVC division of labor in the manufacturing industry and the present conditions of two has important theoretical and practical significance for solving the current difficulties faced by the manufacturing industry in China. In order to study the impact of digitalization on the GVC division of manufacturing industry, this article first analyzes the mechanism of digitalization's promotion of the GVC status of the manufacturing industry at the theoretical level. It not only clarifies the mechanism which digitalization enhances the division of labor status of manufacturing enterprises by affecting the production methods, organizational forms and innovation models of manufacturing enterprises from a micro perspective, but also analyzes the role mechanism of digitalization in the promotion of the status of the international division of labor in the manufacturing industry by promoting the level of specialization and integration with other industries from a macro perspective;Secondly,by constructing manufacturing digitalization index and manufacturing GVC division of labor status index, the sample countries' digitalization degree of manufacturing,GVC division status, and the correlation between the two are analyzed; Then,a panel data model was established with the GVC status index of the manufacturing industry as the dependent variable and the digital index as the core explanatory variable, and a quantitative test was conducted on the impact of digitalization on the GVC status of the manufacturing industry; Finally,on the basis of the analysis in the previous chapter,we propose countermeasures and suggestions to promote the continuous rise of Chinese manufacturing industry along GVC through the promotion of digitalization. After research, the main conclusions are as follows:First, the digitization level of most countries in the sample has gradually increased in recent years after experiencing small fluctuations during the financial crisis.Among them,technology-intensive industries have the highest digitalization level,labor-intensive industries have the second most digitalization level, and capital-intensive industries have the lowest digitalization level. The overall digitization level of the manufacturing industry in developed countries is higher than that in most developing countries, but countries with different levels of development show huge differences in the digitization level in each sub-sector.The overall digitalization level of China's manufacturing industry is second only to South Korea and Mexico, while the digitalization level of China's labor-intensive manufacturing industry ranks first in the sample countries, the digitalization level of China's technology-intensive industry is second only to South Korea and Estonia, and the digital ranking of China's capital-intensive manufacturing industry is slightly backward.Second, the United States,Europe, and Japan still occupy the core dominance in the manufacturing GVC division of labor system.Although the GVC division of labor in China's manufacturing industry ranks among the top countries in the sample,it is still in the catch-up state. In recent years, the status of GVC division of labor in China's three categories of industries has been continuously improved,capital-intensive manufacturing has the most prominent position in the GVC division of labor, and the advantages of labor-intensive and technology-intensive manufacturing in the GVC division of labor are from weak to strong,China's manufacturing industry has shown a positive trend of climbing to the mid-to-high end of GVC.The GVC division of labor in capital-intensive manufacturing in the sample countries is generally higher than that of labor-intensive and technology-intensive manufacturing. Most developed countries have prominent advantages in the GVC division of capital-intensive and technology-intensive manufacturing, while developing countries have obvious advantages in labor-intensive manufacturing. In the GVC division of labor system of the three categories of industries, the advantages of different countries show huge differences.Third, digitalization does contribute to improve the division of labor in GVC,and has a significant positive impact on the overall GVC division of labor in manufacturing. In capital-intensive and labor-intensive manufacturing industries, digitalization has a significant positive impact on the promotion of GVC division of labor status, and the digitalization level of capital-intensive industries has a greater positive impact on the promotion of GVC division of labor status. The digitalization level of the industry-oriented industries has shown a notable positive impact on the improvement of GVC division of labor status.
