With the further deepening of economic globalization, the model of international division has shifted from the inter-industry division to intra-industry to intra-product division. The data show that the proportion of service trade in the global trade structure has risen rapidly in recent years, and the development of the service industry is of positive significance for optimizing the industrial structure, promoting economic development, and improving the employment level of labor productivity. To strengthen the status of China's international division, continuous access to trade gains,China needs to embed global value chain production model, gain profits from economies of scale through industrial agglomeration effects by participating in more product production links, learn advanced technologies and the management mode through technological spillover effects in developed countries upgrading and optimization of domestic technology level, and finally realizes the improvement of product production efficiency and the improvement of technology level. Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the productivity effect of the embedment degree of China's service industry in the global value chain. This paper first theoretically analyzes the three paths of the embedment degree in global value chain impacting the total factor productivity: comparative advantage effect, economies of scale effect and technology spillover effect. Then use the product flow data between the countries in the world input-output table, and based on the Upstreamness of the Industry building an embedment degree of global value chain and the measure it to represent the degree of embedment in the global value chain of each industry. Then, using Solow's residual value method to calculate the total factor productivity of China's service industry as a whole and various sub-sectors,and comprehensively analyze the total factor productivity of China's service industry from the two perspectives of time trend and industry segmentation. The total factor productivity of the service industry as a whole shows fluctuating upward trend. The level of technological progress in different industries in not the same: Labor-intensive and capital-intensive industries have lower total factor productivity, and technology-intensive industries have higher total factor productivity. Finally, the Hausman's test method is used to empirically analyze the productivity effect of the embedded value of the global value chain of China's service industry by using the fixed-effects model. The conclusion is drawn that the degree of the global value chain of China's service industry has a significant promotion of total factor productivity. The role of labor and technology-intensive industries is more significant, and the promotion of capital-intensive industries is not significant. Finally, based on theoretical analysis and empirical results, starting from different factor-intensive industries, countermeasures are proposed for three factor-intensive industries.
