Implementation Of Total Quality Management For Defects Reduction In Manufacturing Industry: Case Study Of South Sudan Beverages Limited ?SSBL?

This research paper intends to study the implementation of total quality management(TQM)for defect reduction which,in turn,improves the quality of the products.Total quality management is a managerial system that regards quality as a result of integrating all organisational activities such as,administration manufacturing,engineering and marketing.The main components of TQM are quality planning,quality control and quality improvement.This thesis aims mainly at analysing the implementation of TQM,reduction of the defect in various items and studying the concept of total quality management.Management that adopts TQM system should understand that a quality product can be achieved by the comprehensive implementation of TQM throughout the organisation.Moreover,it is of utmost importance for management adopting total quality management system to embrace continuous improvement as a fundamental way of doing business.To have more ideas and understanding,a case study was carried out at South Sudan Beverages Limited.Both primary and secondary data was gathered using different methods of data collection such as questionnaires,interviews and observations.The collected data was analysed using statistical quality control tools namely: Pareto Chart,Control Chart and Cause and Effect Diagram.However,Tables,Bar Charts and Pie Charts were also used for data presentation.The results reveal that the implementation of total quality management(TQM)plays an essential role in defect reduction which,in turn,improves the products' quality.This study recommends that employees should work closely with top management,in order,to guarantee effective decision making to yield quality products.Hence,this will lead to highprofit achievement,growth and customer satisfaction.The study also singled out the importance of employees training and appraisal in order,to enhance quality improvement strategies.
