After four decades of reform and opening up,China's economy has achieved a leap-forward development, with its economic aggregate constantly rising, but at the same time, there are also many problems in regional development. In today's world, economic development problems focus on the uneven development of regional economy.Over the past forty years,China is mainly to promote the development of the central and western regions through the priority development of the eastern coastal areas,Giving priority to the establishment of special economic zones in the eastern region, forming many economic circles, all kinds of economic resources are concentrated in the eastern region, making the gap between regions increasingly widening, the advantage of economic development brought by Chinese government policy support is declining with the expansion of regional differences. At the same time, the downward trend of the global economy has also brought great challengesand opportunities to China's economic development, therefore, narrowing the gap of regional economic development and promoting the coordinated development of regional economy is the theme of China's economic development.According to Demurger(2001),there are two main ways to narrow the gap of regional economic development, one is the direct way, namely gives the central and western regions the policy support and the preferential treatment; The other is indirect, directing the flow of elements between regions, and drive the economic growth of inland regions through this spillover effect.Different regions differ greatly in terms of natural conditions, allocation of factors, industrial coupling and value chain jump, how to make up for the constraints of economic development caused by different geographical location, natural resource endowment and industrial structure, this paper considers that an important aspect is the construction of transportation infrastructure, transportation infrastructure helps interprovincial and provincial communication with the outside world,it can not only directly promote the economic growth of the province through investment, but also indirectly promote the economic growth of the province through the spillover effect of economic growth of other provinces on the province(Charles et al.,2006).Transportation infrastructure causes space-time contraction between regions by changing the accessibility between regions, reduce transportation cost and business cost, enhance the free flow of factors and the ability of economic agglomeration, diffusion and radiation, and promote regional economic integration(ding shengren, xie yongli,2009).In addition to directly studying the impact of transportation infrastructure on the economic development of different regions, this paper also draws on the Ottavianao linear new economic geography model to integrate transportation infrastructure and regional economic development into the linear new economic geography model, and more attention is paid to the study of the spatial spillover effect and the type asymmetry of the threshold effect of transportation infrastructure on regional economic development, and the economies of scale of transportation infrastructure, explore the space overflow path of transportation infrastructure and corresponding policy measures. This research paradigm can more accurately grasp the internal relationship between transportation infrastructure and regional economicdevelopment and provide new ideas and suggestions for promoting the coordinated development of regional economy. This paper demonstrates the asymmetric influence of different types of transportation infrastructure on regional economic development from theoretical and empirical aspects.Using data from 1998 to 2016,a spatial durbin model including specific core explanatory variables was established, study the spatial spillover effect of transportation infrastructure construction in the whole country and analyzes the types of asymmetry of the spatial spillover effect of different transportation infrastructure on the same regional economic development. The spatial durbin model is further established in three regions of east China and west China to analyze the spatial asymmetry of the spillover effect of the same transportation infrastructure on the economic development of different regions. Finally, threshold effect model is established and used to study the influence of different transportation mode of regional economic development will be changed with the transportation operation scale, has the characteristics of the threshold, the same infrastructure facilities in different areas of the threshold effect difference and different transportation infrastructure in the same area of the threshold effect. In the full sample, the common panel regression model shows that transportation infrastructure does have a significant impact on regional economic development, and there are significant differences in the impact of railways, highways and inland waterway. In other words, railways and highways can significantly promote regional economic development, while inland waterway has an unstable impact on the economy. The spatial model results show that railway and highway have significant positive spatial spillover effect on regional economic development, while inland waterway has no significant spillover effect. From the perspective of different transportation infrastructures, with the return of ordinary panels, highway has the most significant positive promotion effect on economic development, followed by railway.Under the spatial model, the positive spatial spillover effect of railway on economic development is the most significant, followed by highway, and this kind of influence of transportation infrastructure presents significant characteristics of type asymmetry and spatial asymmetry.Transport infrastructure impact on economic developmenthas the characteristics of scale reward,in addition to not consider the space under the effect of railway scale characteristics of increasing returns, the rest of the both under the space effect and the space effect of the present scale characteristics of diminishing returns, shows that the bigger the scale of transportation infrastructure is not better, should match the level of economic development in scale. From the regional perspective, under the ordinary panel regression model, the three major transportation infrastructures have the most significant positive promotion effect on the economic development of the eastern region.Among the three major transportation infrastructures, highways have the most significant promotion effect on the economy of the eastern and central regions, followed by railways.Under the spatial model, the three major transportation infrastructures have the most significant positive spatial spillover effect on the economic development of the central region.Among the three major transportation infrastructures, railways have the most significant spatial spillover effect on the east and the central and western regions, followed by highways, and inland waterways have unstable and insignificant effects. From the threshold regression results, the transportation infrastructure at a specific level has an obvious "locking" effect on regional economic development. The influence of railways and highways on the economy of the eastern region is on the rise. The larger the scale, the greater the promoting effect, but the negative influence of inland waterway is not significant.Railway only played a significant positive role in promoting the economic development of central China in the third stage, while highway always had a significant positive effect, rising first and then declining, while inland waterway had no significant effect. The positive influence of railway and inland waterway on the economy of the western region decreased significantly, while that of highway decreased first and then increased. It shows that the scale of transportation infrastructure is not as large as it is good, and its construction scale should be in line with the level of economic development, instead of blindly expanding the scale of transportation infrastructure construction.Based on the above research conclusions, this paper puts forward Suggestions on the construction and economic development of regional transportation infrastructure, and the investment policy of transportation infrastructure.
