Since the implementation of the reform and opening policy in the late 1970 s,the development of electronic information manufacturing has gone through a dramatic evolution process from small scale to a larger one, from the weak to the strong. At present, electronic information manufacturing has become one of the important industries to promote high-quality economic growth in China. The Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration(YRDUA)is one of the most active, open and innovative economic regions in China.Based on its unique comprehensive advantages,it has developed a world-class industrial cluster of electronic information manufacturing, mainly composed of integrated circuits and computers. However, since the beginning of the 21 st century, there is an obvious trend that the low-end links of electronic information manufacturing has been transferring to the emerging countries with lower costs, while some high value chain of products has being returning to the developed countries. So the electronic information manufacturing of YRDUA is facing the double urgent challenges of expanding the scale of agglomeration and improving the quality of growth. With the review of relevant basic theories including industrial agglomeration, agglomeration economy and significant research, this paper takes consisting YRDUA(covering 27 cities)as the case area.It focuses on the spatial agglomeration and influencing factors of enterprises performance of electronic information manufacturing on the base of relative enterprises data through using the GeoDA,ArcGIS and Stata.Firstly,it makes a descriptive analysis of the development of the electronic information manufacturing in YRDUA.Then it uses the Index of Concentration,Kernel Density Estimation and Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis to measure the degree of agglomeration, spatial evolution and spatial correlation of electronic information manufacturing enterprises in YRDUA ? Thirdly, the Quantile Regression Model is constructed to analyze the relationship between the enterprises' performance level andthe influencing factors of electronic information manufacturing. The results show that:(1)the characteristics of the development of the electronic information manufacturing industry in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration is that the industrial scale firstly expands and then shrinks, which contributes significantly to the national electronic information manufacturing industry, with large R & D investment and export scale.(2)The agglomeration degree of electronic information manufacturing enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration tends to rise first and then decline, and the overall stability is in the low agglomeration area. The spatial distribution is mainly concentrated on the core area of Shanghai and the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan area, forming an electronic information manufacturing corridor which has some important nodes, such as Nanjing-Suzhou-Changzhou-Shanghai-Jiaxing-Hangzhou-Ningbo,showing polarization effect and diffusion effect.(3)There is a significant positive spatial correlation among the electronic information manufacturing enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. The high value areas are mainly Shanghai and Suzhou, the low value areas are mainly Hefei and Chizhou, and the low high value areas are mainly Nantong,Jiaxing and Huzhou.(4)Only policy support and internal scale economy can significantly promote electronic information manufacturing enterprises with three performance levels. The effect of localization economy, urbanization economy and urban openness varies according to the performance level and the period before and after. Finally, some suggestions are put forward for the future development of the electronic information manufacturing industry in YRDUA: optimizing the intra industry value chain division of the electronic information manufacturing industry;classifying and guiding the electronic information manufacturing enterprises with different performance levels to implement the differentiated spatial agglomeration strategy.
