Abstract/Summary:
This thesis analyzes the interplay between the ILO's institutional design and its substantial norms. In particular, it analyses the norm of freedom of association and the tripartite structure. The dissertation consists of six chapters entitled "Introduction," "International Civil Society and Global Governance," "The Tripartite Structure and Interest Representation," "Freedom of Association and the Internal Functioning of Workers' Organizations," "Modes of Engagement" and "Summery - Are the Lessons from the ILO Generalizble.".
