Coordinating the training of end-users for an EHR implementation brings with it many problems unique to a healthcare setting. Problems associated with end-user resistance, class size, scheduling, and the number of hours of classroom instruction required provide several hurdles to overcome. Without proper training, end-users will be unable to use the EHR to its full benefit, ultimately affecting the return on investment.;By incorporating e-Learning into an EHR training program, project leaders can create a highly flexible, efficient, and effective training program that augments classroom instruction through self-guided, learner-centered lessons that allow end-users to learn EHR functionality at their own pace and on their own schedule.;Through research on adult learning principles, technology-based education strategies, and special considerations specific to EHR training programs, this guidebook was developed specifically for the purpose of walking EHR training managers through the process of planning, developing, and delivering an EHR training program that combines the strengths of classroom instruction with the flexibility and versatility of e-Learning.
