Administering an Information Technology Curriculum at the Graduate Level has many challenges for the university faculty, staff and administration. The Development of a Process Improvement Approach for Graduate IT Education or CMMI IT ED is a process framework to assist academics in establishing metrics and maturity levels for all aspects of an information technology (IT) graduate program. It identifies the IT marketplace, the use of current templates and frameworks in higher education and proposes maturity levels and the feasibility of implementing the model for measurement within the framework to help an academic team assess their maturity level and ascertain the next steps to improving and measuring their IT program. IT department chairmen, in regard to establishing a baseline maturity level for their department for improvement purposes; reviewed the proposed model.
