Career maturity is the extent to which individual is ready for coping with career development tasks appropriate to his or her age. Nowadays, the research that study career maturity gradually increase at both domestic and abroad, however, the research specifically aimed at postgraduate career maturity is rare, especially now facing massive postgraduate in domestic caused by the sever employment situation, therefore, this study is conducted inevitably. The study on career maturity of Chinese postgraduate will not only provide theoretic basis for pertinent career guidance, but also meet the urgent need for the development of Chinese vocational psychology.The study have two purposes : First , developing the Career Maturity Questionnaire for postgraduate students;Second,This study investigates the career maturity of the postgraduates and the relevant factors affecting it. With the Social Support Rating Scale, Career Decision Making Self-efficacy Scale, Rotter's Internal-External Locus of Control Scale as tools, 414 postgraduate students from 1 to 3 grade were introduced in order to explore their career maturity as well as the factors influencing the maturity from three aspects, namely, individual, family environment and social background.The results are follows:1.The Career Maturity Questionnaire for postgraduate students was developed with firm reliability and validity;2.The postgraduates' career maturity and its various factors are not high;3.On the whole the career maturity of postgraduates have a rising trend;4. There were no significant gender difference in the career maturity;5.There is significant difference in postgraduates whose major are not different,the career maturity of polytechnic professional postgraduates is highest;6.There was significant difference in career maturity between the top university's postgraduates and ordinary university's postgraduates;7.The career maturity of postgraduates was in positive relation to their locus of control ; 8.There is significance relation between postgradutes'career maturity and the degree of their satisfaction in specialty, the higher those two factors are, the higher their career maturity is;9.Their families affected the career maturity of postgraduates, there was a positive relation between the education levels of parents and the career maturity of postgraduates;10.the career maturity of postgraduates related to the way of career guidance that college school had offered ;11.The career maturity differences in participant in the practice were significance; 12.The career maturity was in positive relation to social support.
