Abstract/Summary:
The thesis is a developmental evaluation research study, which intends to assess the current organizational capacity of Self Help Development Foundation Training (SHDF) and Advisory Services (TAS), Zimbabwe. Six major capacity areas outlined in the IDRC framework, namely, strategic leadership, program, process management and human resource management, other core resources (finances, infrastructure and technology) and inter-organizational linkages guided the study. Data on SHDF TAS' history, organisational culture, the challenges and opportunities presented by its internal and external operating environment was also assessed. Gender was added to the evaluation tool, by examining the organization's contribution to women's empowerment in the workplace and the community. Furthermore, gender analysis focused on the gendered impact of the external and internal environment how gender affects how the organization functions, its major capacity areas and performance. Overall, the study analysed how all the above factors could affect SHDF TAS' ability to survive and effectively perform.
