Abstract/Summary:
Systems thinkers like Russell Ackoff and W. Edwards Deming approach quality performance as a holistic enterprise. Quality, productivity, and profit work together to guarantee the success of the organization. The term "holistic" refers to an attempt to study and master the knowledge and control of entire systems. The information age of the 21st century and focused expertise has led to fragmentation of quality assurance science and organization performance initiatives. This thesis identifies the key, executable concepts in Activity Based Costing, The Balanced Scorecard, Customer Segmentation, Process Improvement and Strategic Business Modeling as the components of a Homeostatic System Model. The concept and application of Systems Thinking is examined as well as implications of the impact of organization and societal culture.
