Abstract/Summary:
The College Town is a uniquely American phenomenon that is distinct from any other category of urban place in the world. It comes as no surprise, then, that the economies of college towns, including their real estate markets, are unique.;This exploratory study contributes to the limited literature on the peculiarities of college town real estate markets by examining the effects of university growth and influence on the real estate market of the City of Binghamton, NY. Binghamton is a Rustbelt city and college town of 40,000 in the Southern Tier of Central New York that hosts a major research university.
