Abstract/Summary:
Traditionally, organizations implement employee career and succession planning methodologies, independent from other human resources practices. This research project explores the feasibility of implementing such methodologies as components of an integrated talent management strategy for the Justice Institute of BC. A talent management strategy is defined as the integration of human resources practices for purposes of attracting, developing, and retaining talent. As part of the study, three themes are examined: talent management as a new approach to managing employees; leadership, from the perspective of the leader as enabler of others; and knowledge management, as vehicle for better talent management. The research included 20 employees, in an appreciative inquiry process. Data gathered was analyzed thematically. The study findings illustrate that employees identified development as one component of the talent management strategy.
