Abstract/Summary:
This study investigated the construct validity of the Rorschach Human Representational Variable by comparison to three criterion measures: the Interpersonal Perception Task (IPT-15); the Profile of Nonverbal Sensitivity, Face and Body (F&B PONS); and the Communication of Affect Receiving Ability (CARAT). Participants were 62 undergraduate students at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) who provided usable administrations for the Rorschach and criterion scales. Included in the analysis were data collected in a follow-up study of the criterion measures involving 119 UAA students. Results showed a moderate correlation between the F&B PONS and CARAT only (r = .215, p = .08). Despite limitations of the criterion measures, the Rorschach Good Human Representations (GHR) and total Human Representational Variable (HRV) scores showed the expected positive associations with the F&B PONS (r = .30, p = .02; r = .25, p = .05, respectively).
