Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study was to examine the supportiveness of groups regarding comfort and feelings for parents who have children with leukemia. Self-administered questionnaires were collected from 16 parents who have had or currently have children with leukemia.; This study found that the support groups that the parents were attending were viewed positively in items of comfort and expressing feelings. Almost all endured the mission of the support group; the emotional aspects of their situation. However, some felt intimidated to speak in front of the group, which may defeat the purpose of the group.; Additional research using a larger sample size or a controlled evaluation to fully assess the benefit of support groups for parents should be completed.
