Leukemia is one of the major diseases endangering children's health.About 16,000 children develop leukemia every year in China. In the face of long-term treatment and high medical costs, children with leukemia and their parents are under great pressure.Emotions such as anxiety, depression and fear are intertwined, which seriously affect the emotional and psychological health of the children and their parents, and then have a negative impact on the treatment and care of the children. Therefore, external intervention is urgently needed.Current research mainly involves the psychological and behavioral problems and characteristics of children with leukemia and their parents,as well as the reasons for such psychological and behavioral changes. However, when exploring the causes, the authors of different literatures only focus on the causes of a certain aspect, but lack an overall systematic analysis of the specific problems and real needs of the children and their parents in the long-term treatment. Therefore, this paper, from the perspective of Zastrows' s social ecosystem theory and supplemented by Richman's social support theory, systematically and comprehensively sorts out and explores the psychological state characteristics, sources of stress, support provided by different levels of systems and the interaction among the systems of children with leukemia and their parents. On this basis,we can grasp the pressure, difficulties and real needs of children and their parents in the treatment process, and provide theoretical and practical experience by social workers to provide professional services for them.It also tries to find out how the treatment of sick children has been affected under the COVID-19 and how the hospital and their parents have responded. This study used qualitative research methods to provide services for children with leukemia in real hospitals.Structured interviews were conducted with children with leukemia, their parents and social workers, supplemented by work reports, observation records and other data. The study found that children had significant changes in psychological behavior, and their emotions and cognition were influenced by their parents' emotional state. The parents' anxiety and depression were obvious, and the mood change was divided into two stages. At the early stage of diagnosis, the parents' psychological reaction was the most intense, showing shock, denial and despair. From January to march after diagnosis, parents gradually accept the facts and actively participate in the treatment. In terms of social support, the social support group of children is small, and the family system provides the main support for children. The emotional support provided by the peer group has a positive effect on the children, but the peer group support of the children is generally weak. The social support for parents of children mainly includes emotional support, information support, care support and financial support. The support from the group of patients is a strong support from the parents of children with leukemia, especially in terms of emotional support and information support. What the doctor provides is not only professional technical support, but also positive words from the doctor, which are of great emotional support to the parents of the child. However, the parents of children with leukemia showed resistance to the emotional support services provided by social workers. At present, the hospital's social workers provide financial support to children with leukemia.Based on the above findings, this study suggests that in future services, social workers can strengthen emotional support and information support for children and their parents.Good at using the network to provide online services for children, innovative service mode;Integrate support provided by the patient community.
