| As elderly individuals age, the need for long-term care increases. Seniors and their families are under informed about services available during this uncertain time. This issue is significant because the population continues to age at a rapid rate. The and the number of people who need long-term care services will continue to grow in the coming years. This issue effects the elderly population, their caregivers, and their loved ones. The elderly population becomes increasingly vulnerable as they age. This vulnerability causes them to depend on their loved ones and caregivers to provide assistance with many daily activities they could have previously done on their own. An effective guidebook will provide information on different types of long-term care offered, how long-term care is funded, and how to select an appropriate level of care for elderly persons. The results showed that this population can benefit from a guidebook with information about long-term care options. The guidebook must be placed in locations such as senior health fairs, wellness centers, public health departments, religious organizations, through senior home safety visits, and using senior advisory boards. This project will add to the literature currently available about long-term care services and will help to consolidate this information to make it easier for the target population to understand and reference. This project will have a positive impact on the communities involved and will give the elderly in need the information necessary to make educated decisions about their futures. |
