Abstract/Summary:
This study examines the informal support systems of family relations, intergenerational grants economy, and friend/neighbor support of 331 residents 50 years of age or older who live in a rural retirement area in Nevada. Significance was set at p ;Using a 1 x k chi square, residential proximity of kin was found to be significant. Respondents had more kin living within the 100 mile range than what would be expected by chance. The following differences were found to be significant: composite family interaction score with expected tenure, perceived life satisfaction with living arrangements, the giving of grants with income, frequency of interaction score of friends with life satisfaction.
