| This thesis project applies lenses of Transformative Community Economic Development and Solidarity Economy Theory to understanding the New Lynn Coalition's potential for transformative development in Lynn MA. The thesis begins by establishing the social and economic contexts for development in Lynn, MA, and establishing an understanding of the components of transformative community economic development that will inform the later analysis of the New Lynn Coaliton, a Jobs Linkage Campaign, and Freedom Machine Cooperative. This paper posits that the potential for transformative development is best understood as a spectrum to explore the connections between different projects and identify how transformative development takes place. |
