China is a big textile country, and is the first country to raise silkworm insects in the world. The textile relics contain a large number of silk relics. The rich colors of these silk fabrics contain very important social and cultural information, which reflects social awareness and economy, and are precious materials witness the social history of the Chinese nation, and therefore have high historical study values. The unearthed silk fabric was easily faded under the influence of oxygen, light, temperature, humidity etc.In order to preserve silk fabrics better,it is necessary to further study the effects of oxygen, light, temperature and humidity on the silk of fading. So a light-aging experimental device was designed based on miniature fiber optic spectrometer to further study the factors affecting the fading of silk fabrics.Ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra of aged and unaged samples of different dyed silk fabrics were obtained by miniature spectrometer. It was found that the characteristic absorption peaks of the ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra of different dyed silk fabrics were different. The position of the characteristic absorption peak can be used as the basis to identify dyed silk fabric dyes.According to the identification basis of silk fabric dyes, the characteristic peaks of silk fabrics dyed by safflower, sappan wood and lithospermum dyes are still obvious after being aged 24 days by light and heat, which can be used as the basis for the identification of dyes. For the sample of gardenia dyed fabrics the characteristic peaks of 24 days' light-aging sample is still obvious, while the characteristic peaks of 24 days' heat ageing sample disappear. In this paper, using the light-aging experimental device, the visible-light fading experiments of six different vegetable dyes dyed on silk fabrics were carried out under oxygen and anoxic conditions. It was found that the device is effective in simulating the fading of dyes preserved in museums.Under the oxygen conditions, the light-fastness of the six silk fabrics is:sappan wood>gardenia>lithospermum>amurcorktree>safflower>turmeric;Under the anoxic conditions, the light-fastness of the six silk fabrics is:gardenia>sappanwood>lithospermum>safflower>amur corktree>turmeric.Under the anoxic conditions, the discoloration of these six dyes dyeing on silk fabrics was inhibited to different extents, among which the inhibitation of safflower dyes was the most significant. In the initial stage of photo-aging experiment of lithospermum dyed silk fabric, the inhibition of aging fading under anoxic conditions is not obvious, which may be related to the strong oxidation resistance of dyed silk fabrics.Three yellow vegetables dyes of pagoda tree, amur corktree and gardenia were used to dye the silk fabrics with different mordants and methods. It was found that the color of the samples have some difference but they are all distributed in the yellow color space area. The silk fabrics dyed with amur corktree and gardenia all show that the post-mordant fabrics and fabrics with small K/S value have better light fastness. The silk fabrics dyed with amur corktree show that pre-mordant fabrics and fabrics with large K/S value have better light fastness.Different mordants and dyeing methods have different effects on the light fastness of silk fabrics dyed with different dyes. However, the silk fabrics dyed by the three vegetable dyes all exhibited the large K/S value for the silk fabrics dyed with iron mordant and have better color fastness to light.
