The helix flute of the cutting tool has a crucial influence on the performance.However,the method of helix flute machining cannot satisfield the development of the current industry.The processing of the helix flute has always been carried out in the case of a known flute shape,and the shape of the grinding wheel is obtained according to the method of the contact line or the meshing principle.However,the wheel profiles obtained by these methods are all forming grinding-wheels,and the profile of the grinding wheel is complex and the machining flute is single.Therefore,it is particularly important to explore more efficient helix flute processing methods.The helix flute processing method used in this paper is different from the previous "direct method" and "inverse method",but uses the "indirect method",which is more convenient to use.The so-called "indirect method" is known as the helix flute profile and the grinding wheel geometry,and the processing parameters for processing the flute shape are calculated,center distance,offset distance,setup angle.This method not only has the flexible use of "direct method" processing,but also avoids the difficulties caused by the dressing of the grinding wheel in the "inverse method".Saving a great deal of cost and time.Moreover,the grinding wheels used in the processing are standard grinding wheels,such as 1A1 grinding wheel,1V1 grinding wheel and 1L1 grinding wheel,which are the most commonly used in production and processing.In the calculation of the flute shape,we divide the flute shape into convex flute and concave flute according to the computational geometry,and calculate the flute shape by the Graham Scan and ?-shape method respectively,and calculate the rake angle,core thickness and flute angle.Then,the center distance,the offset distance required and setup angle for the machining are calculated according to the processing parameters search model.This paper further explores the influence of weight coefficients on search results and finds the appropriate weight coefficients through numerical experiments.Furthermore,the influence of different wheel profiles on the flute shape is further analyzed.It provides a basis for selecting the shap of the grinding wheel according to the flute shape in actual machining.Influence of processing parameters on the flute shape is also analyzed.In addition,the actual machining verification of the method is carried out in this paper.The PTG6 five-axis CNC grinding machine is used for flute grinding,and the parameters of the helix flute are measured,and the precision meets the requirements of finishing.Furthermore,the written MATLAB algorithm is programmed in Python language,developed a CNC software for helix flute processing.It has completely independent intellectual property rights.The grinding software is reliable and operability,which improves processing efficiency and practicability.
