Research On The Gatehouse Of The Traditional Dwellings In Xizhou, Dali

Xizhou is a historical and cultural town affiliated to the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture.Today,there are still many residential buildings that can be regarded as a representative of Bai nationality’s architecture,and gatehouse is an important part of traditional residential architecture in Xizhou.In the context of globalization,traditional buildings are gradually dying out,while new buildings often ignore regional culture and exist independently.Chinese traditional residential architectures are closely related to the local natural and human environment,it is an important carrier for inheriting and displaying excellent traditional culture,and contains rich “cultural genes”.Research on the shape of Xizhou gatehouse can provide a reference for the inheritance and development of traditional regional architecture.The article is divided into five chapters:In the second chapter,the scope of the study is defined,explains the concept and the background of the traditional residential gatehouse in Xizhou through the field investigation.The second part defines the scope of the study,explains the concept of Xizhou traditional residential gatehouse and expounds the background of Xizhou gatehouse.The third and fourth parts are the key chapters of this research.In the third chapter,In the third chapter,the facade form of the Xizhou gatehouse is analyzed by using the method of architectural typology to explore the potential law of its evolution.Using the research methods in anthropology,the causes behind the evolution of the traditional dwelling gatehouses in Xizhou were interpreted by summarizing the historical records of Xizhou and field research.In the fourth chapter,the connotation and function of the entrance space of Xizhou traditional residence is analyzed,and the limited types of entrance spaces and the organization of spatial sequences are explored through the induction of the types of entrance spaces.In the fifth chapter,the methods of inheritance and innovation of the traditional residential gatehouse in contemporary architectural design are explored based on the the study of the above chapters.There are three conclusions in this paper: First,there are latent laws behind the diversification of the shape of the gate and entrance spaces of Xizhou traditional residential houses.s,the values of residents in various historical periods and economic levels.Second,there is a potential combination rule behind the diversification of the Xizhou traditional residential gatehouses and the entrance space.Third,understanding the cultural connotation of the gatehouses and mastering the type elements of the Xizhou gatehouse is the key to continue the architectural culture of the Bai traditional dwelling gatehouses in the modern gatehouse design.
