Exploring Resettlement Impacts Of International Deepwater Multipurpose Sea Port Projects Gwadar

This thesis attempts to examine the impacts of displacement,resettlement and rehabilitation process.Social and economic life of the displaced peoples due to development of gwadar port projects.The large-scale development is going on in the entire society where fishermen communities are living.Displacement is the tragic end result of development,affecting the entire community that lives within the project site;the most affected members are fishermen and sea salt producers.Moreover,in the case of fisher community,the role of fishers is primary with their job nature,as the fishing is a gamble and the fishers have only the expertise of fishing;and,while sea salt manufacturers also have knowledge to use the seawater for salt production.This study was conducted on the impacts of east bay express way project which induced displacement and resettlement on the social and economic life of the displaced peoples in wadi dohor to new dohor and mullah band to new mullah band ward.These two community are resettled due to development projects.The general objective of this study was assessing the impact of displacement and resettlement.I have used qualitative approaches of research and the research is descriptive in type.Data was gathered through questionnaires and statistically analyzed using paired sample test.It was observed that,the resettlement of Gwadar significantly influenced their occupations,culture,socio economic,common resources and accommodation pattern.The sample of displacees were selected through random sampling.From this study I concluded that,displacees faced different social,cultural and economic problems especially in basic infrastructures.The findings of the study show that the role of government in solving these problems was insignificant.To alleviate these problems,I recommended for the concerning bodies to change the social and economic life of the displacees.
