Study On Design Of Child-Friendly Outdoor Space In Urban Residential Areas

Children are the hope of every family and the future of the motherland.In recent years,more and more attention has been paid to the construction of child-friendly communities in China,as well as to children.The healthy growth of children is inseparable from their environment.For children,the residential outdoor space is the place where they have the most frequent daily contact and where they begin to encounter the world outside their home.However,the actual needs of children are often ignored in the current residential construction in China,causing problems such as insufficient outdoor play space,single play facilities,reduced intimate contact with nature,and threatened children’s independent travel.Under the above circumstance,there is an important significance in research on how to construct child-friendly outdoor space in residential areas.In the first part,with residential outdoor space as the research object,through summary on the related theory and practice of domestic and foreign child-friendly outdoor space,sort out the development context of child-friendly space at home and abroad,interpret its connotation,sort out the construction guidance of child-friendly outdoor space in residential areas,and parse best practice cases of residential child-friendly outdoor space,related theory,and finally provide theoretical and practical support for the subsequent design of child-friendly outdoor space in residential areas by combining with the theories related to children’s psychological behavior.In the second part,combined with the investigation of several residential areas,use questionnaire,interview,observation and other methods to investigate the relationship between children’s daily activities and space needs at different ages,and between children’s activities and outdoor space,so as to summarize the specific activity types of children in different ages,the relationship with outdoor activity space,and outdoor space factors that promote children’s activities.The third part starts form survey results,studying the design strategies of children’s game space,road space,green landscape and other micro-level aspects from the aspects of safety,diversity,accessibility and comfort,and explores its feasibility in practical application by combining with the design of outdoor space in Kangping Shuian Residential Area in Kaifeng City.Starting from a holistic perspective,this article takes the healthy growth of children as the guide,and through the investigation of child-friendly outdoor spaces in residential areas,summarizes the needs of children’s activities and the relevance of children’s activities and outdoor spaces.With the goal of building child-friendly outdoor spaces in residential areas,the design focuses on children’s play space,road space,and green landscape,and the feasibility of the design strategy has been verified through practice.It is hoped that through preliminary exploration and research on child-friendly outdoor spaces in residential areas,it can further supplement and improve country’s residential space design norms and theories,and at the same time,play a role in the construction of child-friendly residential areas.
