The Study Of Contextual Continuance In General Historical Cities

With the acceleration of urbanization process,historical cities are challenged and destroyed by constant development,resulting in the phenomenon of heritage isolation and fragmentation,and the losing of the city scape and cultural characteristics.We should realize that historical culture is of great significance to the sustainable development of cities and towns,and coordinating the relationship between urban development and the contextual continuanc of historical context has become a common problem to be faced and dealt with in the urban development of China.For cities with rich historical relics such as famous historical and cultural cities,the protection of the urban context has been carried out for a long time.However,for the general historical cities which exist more widely,the protection of urban historical context has always been neglected.In the case of researving less historical relics and incomplete historical style,how to effectively protect the urban context and realize the contextual continuance of the urban context is more worthy of thinking and research.General historical cities are faced with the problems of the fading of urban style,the destruction of pattern and the loss of culture.In recent years,the "Historic urban landscape"(HUL)concept has been created to expand the concept of "heritage" to all urban heritage.Carrying out the study on historical cities from the layerings and relevance of heritage resources reflects the transformation of historical and cultural protection from material space preservation to context preservation,which has a good pertinence and guidance for the historical and cultural protection and inheritance of general historical cities.From the perspective of historic urban landscape,the author proposes operable and universal methods for the study of contextual continuance in general historical cities,including identifying the regional evolution features and the context elements,recoganizing context features,integrating elements,and proposing the overall strategies of contextual continuance.All the methods are applied in the study of Liyang.The author carries on a systematic research of history and culture in Liyang,and deeply recognizes various context elements.Cultural values and features are summarized basing on public investigation.Finally,basing on the integration of different resources,the author proposes the strategy of contextual continuance from the macro,middle and micro levels with space as the carrier,which is implemented in all kinds of planning and node design of urban space.
