Recently,scramble crossing becomes more and more popular in the world.It focuses on pedestrians’ priority and sets pedestrian-specific phase in order to ensure pedestrians pass safely and efficiently.The design concept of scramble crossing is biased towards the benefit of pedestrians,and the traffic efficiency of motor vehicles waiting at the same scramble crossing will be affected.In order to ensure that pedestrians can pass the crossing efficiently and safely,meanwhile considering the traffic efficiency of vehicles,a traffic signal coordination control algorithm with scramble crossing is studied in this paper.First of all,according to the design concept and applicable setting conditions of scramble crossing,and considering the traffic safety and efficiency of pedestrians and motor vehicles,the traditional evaluation index of signal coordination control result is analyzed and a cost objective function of signal coordination control with scramble crossing is constructed in which the influence of crossing mode on traffic safety and efficiency is integrated into an economic cost evaluation framework.Secondly,the safety cost and efficiency cost of crossings are modeled,and the calculation method of the cost objective function of signal coordination control with scramble crossing is proposed.The constraint condition of signal coordination control with scramble crossing is analyzed.Finally,a key crossing selection method for signal coordination control with scramble crossing is proposed to calculate the public cycle.Two situations of coordination control with one or more scramble crossings are discussed.The only scramble crossing or the scramble crossing with the least cost is chosen as the key crossing for coordination control.The VISSIM software is used to get vehicle and pedestrians traffic network evaluation results in the two situations.Six vehicle indicators and two pedestrian indicators are selected to evaluate the result of coordination control.The effectiveness of the method for signal coordination control with scramble crossing is verified by simulation results.
