Under the background of comprehensively deepening reform,the upgrading of industrial structure is an important work in the process of China’s current economic and social development.With the development of China’s economy and society and the adjustment of regional industrial structure,there are obvious differences in the choice of employment areas and industries for engineering graduates.At the same time,the concept of employment of engineering students has also changed.These differences and changes have an impact on the regional economy,industry development and discipline construction.It is of great practical significance to summarize and study the characteristics of the employment flow of engineering students at this stage,and to explore the internal relationship between the upgrading of industrial structure and the employment flow of engineering students.In this study,the graduates of engineering characteristic colleges in five typical areas of industrial upgrading,namely Dalian University of technology,Harbin University of technology,Huazhong University of science and technology,East China University of science and technology and University of Electronic Science and technology,are selected to carry out the research.The specific research content uses the employment data of engineering graduates from five universities from 2013 to 2019 to analyze the regional distribution,employment type distribution and employment industry distribution in detail,and summarize the regional and industry flow characteristics of engineering students after graduation.Based on the theory of human capital,this paper analyzes the causes of College Students’ employment industry and regional flow,selects GDP data of six typical regions,and comprehensively analyzes the proportion of each industry,growth rate and graduates’ employment regional flow.At the same time,the main disciplines of engineering colleges are divided into traditional disciplines and emerging disciplines,and the characteristics of employment flow of the two disciplines are analyzed.Based on the detailed analysis of the employment data,this paper uses support vector machine to process and analyze the data of college graduates,verifies the effectiveness of the prediction model of the employment flow of engineering students,and makes the prediction of the future employment trend of engineering students.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)the regional factors have a significant impact on the employment area selection of graduates,among which the location of colleges and universities has a great influence on Graduates’ employment choice in the region,and the economic level of the city is also an important factor in the selection of graduates’ employment area.Many graduates are willing to choose to go to the areas with higher economic development level.(2)The subjects studied have a significant impact on the direction of graduates’ employment industry.With the development of disciplines and the change of industry demand,the choice of graduates’ employment industry has changed significantly.(3)According to the employment data of three universities,Dalian University of technology,Harbin University of technology and Huazhong University of science and technology and the proportion of secondary industry in the region,the paper uses support vector machine to predict the employment situation of Engineering College Students in the future.Based on the above conclusions,the paper puts forward the guiding strategies of the employment area and the industry direction of engineering students,in order to promote the optimization of industrial structure and the coordinated development of regional economy and society,and promote the high-quality employment of engineering students.
