Residential space differentiation refers to the phenomenon that different social groups have different occupancy of urban residential space resources due to different economic levels and social status and etc.It reflects that people with similar social backgrounds and characteristics choose to live together to form a specific neighborhood relationship,which means that homogeneous people gather to live and heterogeneous people are isolated from each other to form an empty space residential differentiation on the space.With the continuous development of market-oriented economic system and the continuous improvement of urbanization,the housing demand of urban residents has changed.China’s urban residential space has undergone complex and profound changes,and the residential types have also shown a diversified trend of development.A variety of residential forms,such as urban medium and high-grade residential areas,unit system residential areas,affordable housing,secure housing,and urban villages,have emerged together.Urban residents have more choices upon house-purchase.The purchase of houses no longer only focuses on the price and quality of houses,but also on the surrounding environments,public supporting facilities and neighborhood relations in the block.The active or passive choice of residence results in the differentiation of living space,which has led to many problems in the integration of block space,such as artificial isolation of physical space,imperfect community participation system,uneven distribution of public resources,damaged social welfare of vulnerable groups,and estrangement of social groups.If these problems are allowed to continue to develop,the rapid development of urbanization may cause further upgrading of space problems,which will affect the sustainable development of the city and society.The main purpose of the study is based on the scholars’ research on the social spatial differentiation and residential spatial differentiation of the city in a specific period and region.From the perspective of micro block research,based on the case study of three representative residential areas in Block C of Nanjing City,the field questionnaire survey,interview and data analysis are carried out.Meanwhile,the study is based on the theory of space theory and space governance and has established an analytical framework called“physics-systems-interests-identify”.From the perspective of physics,politics,economy and society,this paper analyzes the dilemma of block integration derived from the phenomenon of residential space differentiation,and puts forward targeted governance measures for the effective integration of C block space in order to achieve the integration of all elements and all aspects of the block.And then,regarding the spatial differentiation of other urban blocks in China,the governance of the problems derived from the urban social spatial differentiation puts forward some reasonable ideas to prevent the further expansion of the problems caused by the phenomenon of residential differentiation,which will be of certain practical significance for realizing the reasonable planning and design of the urban residential space,optimizing the urban spatial layout and promoting the "good governance" of the city.
