| In the era of global economic integration,the market demand is evolving rapidly,while the demand of customers is also developing from universality to customization.Especially for the manufacturing industry,in order to meet the needs of popular ization and respond to the different personalized needs of customers in a market which full of various uncertainties,on-time delivery of orders,grasping and maintaining the corresponding market share,we must start with the supply chain and create an eff icient,transparent and integrated supply chain system.It is one of the key factors for enterprises to win in this competitive market.To establish an efficient supply chain system,inventory management is the key focus.The level of inventory management of an enterprise directly affects its market competitiveness.In other words,the level of inventory management of an enterprise is one of the main indicators of the operation ability of the enterprise.As the basis of production,raw material inventory accounts for more than 30% of the fixed cost of an enterprise.Therefore,the management of raw materials is an important part of supply chain management.How to minimize the holding cost of raw material inventory and provide the maximum flexibility of order delivery is the key index to measure whether a supply chain management system is effective,hence,it is the focus of this paper.SP,a multinational company that sets up its Asia Pacific production center in China,serving its customers who are sales companies in Asia Pacific countries and resellers in Chinese provinces and cities.They need to process a lot of demand information and purchasing information every single day.As such,SP company has the inherent shortcomings of manufacturing companies: long lead time,high inventory,unable to meet emergency orders and serious bullwhip effect.Taking the company’s “A”product as an example,this paper analyzes the information flow and workflow of SP company’s supply chain through process optimization,data analysis and other methodology to analyze and discuss the root causes,that identified out of the main process problems in the two links of information flow which are the input and the output,and finally designs the corresponding improvement scheme and applies it to the improvised inventory management practices.The results show that:(1)The main problems facing SP company include the lack of flexibility of material planning,low order fulfillment rate;high material inventory and low turnover rate;too much aging inventories and long inventory dwell-time,which is difficult to process;and the inventory data is not updated in real time.(2)The main reasons are as follows: there is a huge difference between the sales forecast and the real demand;there is a lack of scientific and reasonable raw material management methods;the warehouse accounts are not updated in real time,and the process needs to be improved.(3)In view of the above four reasons,this paper designs the corresponding improvement scheme from three aspects of information input,processing and output,from the information flow and workflow of jobs.Through the application of the scheme,the order delivery and inventory turnover rate of SP company have been greatly improved,and the effect is remarkable.This paper can be used as a practical reference to improve the internal raw material inventory management of SP company,and it can serve as a reference for other manufacturing industries. |
