With the continuous reform of education,the continuous implementation of quality education and the influx of advanced foreign educational concepts,my country’s educational concepts and teaching models have undergone tremendous changes compared to the past.This affects the architectural space of primary and secondary schools,and also puts forward new requirements for educational buildings.At present,the vast majority of primary and secondary schools in my country are still the traditional model of single-function linear transportation space in series with fixed teaching units,which cannot meet the new educational concept of diversified teaching models and comprehensive talent training.How to use new design techniques to solve the contradictions and problems between the development of current primary and secondary school education concepts and the demand for architectural space is an important topic in the current architectural design of primary and secondary schools.This paper takes the "education street" of primary and secondary schools in China as the research object,and explores the background of the "education street" and its theoretical basis by studying the influence of the educational philosophy of primary and secondary schools on the architectural space and the spatial needs under the current educational philosophy in China.This is followed by a case study in which the linear traffic space and informal learning space of a typical primary and secondary school are analysed through observations and records,and the current problems of unreasonable spatial scale and neglect of students’ actual needs are summarised and sorted out.At the same time,the excellent cases of primary and secondary schools at home and abroad using the "education street" model are categorised and studied,summarising the characteristics of the "education street" such as functional complex and traffic flow organisation and refining its design techniques and concepts.On this basis,the design modes of "education street" are proposed from two perspectives,namely the master plan level and the internal space level,and the corresponding design strategies and applications of each mode are described.On this basis,this paper analyses the practical application of the "education street" design model by taking the Sikhui Hengyi Experimental School as a practical object,with a view to providing some assistance to the practice and theoretical research of primary and secondary school architectural design in China.
