| As the backbone of China’s manufacturing industry,the equipment manufacturing industry is a vital industry that provides technical equipment for the production of national economy.It means a lot more than single industry-it is the foundation of the country’s comprehensive national strength,a cornerstone that drives the development of related industries,as well as the strategic position that countries are competing for.Guangdong Province is one of the places occupying the major share in China’s equipment manufacturing industry,evidenced by its numerous top-ranked economic indicators and rapidly rising amount and scale of industry enterprise.However,under the new economic normal,Guangdong’s equipment manufacturing industry is facing numerous challenges and up-coming trend and the industrial upgrading and transformation is the most effective solution to resolve the challenge and ultimately gain access to high-quality development.Taking perspective of multi-dimensional proximity,this paper adopted transaction cost theory,resource constraint theory and social network analysis to explore the dynamic evolution characteristics and development laws of the cooperative innovation network of Guangdong’s equipment manufacturing industry.First step,the paper analyzed the development status of Guangdong’s equipment manufacturing industry by looking at the economic indicators and policy planning.Secondly,exploring the evolution characteristics of the cooperative innovation network of Guangdong’s equipment manufacturing industry based on the data of cooperative invention patents from 2001 to 2019.This is followed by the attempt of using QAP regression analysis method,it is made to explore the influence of multidimensional proximity on the evolution of the cooperative innovation network.With the use of case analysis method,the paper finally would produce in-depth analysis of enterprise innovation cooperation to develop a thorough and grounded understand of the working of innovation network.Our findings are as follow.(1)The development of Guangdong’s equipment manufacturing industry has made fruitful progress,while industrial upgrading has acquired its preliminary success.(2)As time goes by,the cooperative innovation network presents the characteristics of changes such as the expansion of the network scale,the reduction of the density,the rise of the centrality,and the gradual occupation of the core position of the network center by large state-owned enterprises and universities.At the same time,the regional innovation network continued to expand and deepen so that Guangzhou,Shenzhen,and Foshan have become the important knowledge sources of provincial cooperative innovation networks.Looking outward,Guangdong’s equipment manufacturing industry is most closely connected with regions such as the Yangtze River Delta,Beijing,and Hubei.(3)Geographical proximity plays a positive role in promoting innovation cooperation,and its affect shows a "U"-shaped change trend;the impact of technological proximity has witnessed a drastic change-that it goes negative at the early stage while it changes toward positive at the later stage;the positive effect of institutional proximity did not show until the cooperation moves to the last stage;social proximity played a positive role in promoting innovation cooperation,and the degree of influence continued to increase.(4)Large-scale enterprises pay more attention to collaborative innovation,especially with entity in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain at the mature stage of development,while the small and medium-sized enterprises tend to more inclined to cooperate with universities or research institutions due to the lack of innovation resources. |
