Connotation And Strategies Of ‘light’ Expression Of Contemporary Woven Bamboo Architecture Under Tectonics

The mobility of contemporary society and people’s environmental awareness make light which including temporary rest,lightness,ecology and other ideologies the trend of architectural development.Woven bamboo architecture,which originated from traditional ecological building materials and handicrafts,reflects the characteristics of light in terms of material properties and transparency of texture,and gets more and more attention.It is an eternal architectural topic to study the reuse of traditional materials and techniques in the new era,and to better express the contemporary value.At the same time,tectonics emphasizes the logical relationship between structures,constructions,materials and forms of expression,which is consistent with the weaving bamboo craft.Therefore,from the perspective of tectonics,this paper explores the logical relationship between the 4 tectonics elements of woven bamboo buildings,with the intention of analyzing the connotation of light expression of woven bamboo architecture and seeking ways to strengthen the light expression.This paper starts with epistemological research of woven bamboo architecture and the "light" expression of architecture from the perspective of history and theory:the author defines the concept and historical context of woven bamboo architecture and the light expression of architecture through literature reading,and concludes its main types and development trend.secondly,the theoretical construction was carried out,through analyzing the material characteristics,weaving texture,structural form,joints and construction method of woven bamboo building,to extract the tectonic characteristics of woven bamboo architecture and the logical relationship between the four elements.On this basis,the methodology research is carried out: starting from the polysemy analysis of light,using etymological analysis and theoretical comparison,the paper puts forward four dimensions of light expression of Architecture: material,vision,environment and construction,and analyzes the advantages of light expression of woven bamboo architecture from these four aspects through case analysis and field investigation.Finally,the paper puts forward the design strategies of strengthening the light expression in woven bamboo buildings: through theoretical study and comparison,the correspondence between the light expression and the tectonics of woven bamboo buildings is analyzed.Then,based on the analysis of the advantages of the light expression in woven bamboo buildings,through case study,the strengthening tectonic strategies of light expression of woven bamboo buildings are extracted from four aspects:strengthening the light structure,shaping the "light" form,creating the "light load" environment,and carrying out the light construction.Through case studies,it is found that the lightweight of matching materials,the upgrading of connection nodes,the nonlinear design of structural form,the transparency of texture,and the parameterization and assemblage of construction design are the key to construct "light" expression of woven bamboo buildings.Based on the tectonics theory,this paper puts forward the light expression advantages and corresponding strengthening strategies of woven bamboo architecture in the four dimensions of material,vision,environment and construction,which helps to understand the essence of woven bamboo architecture,and provides technical and design reference for the creators of woven bamboo architecture under the background of light era.At the same time,it also provides an idea for the research direction of other traditional materials and techniques under the era proposition.
