Characteristic towns refer to the "small towns with Chinese characteristics" that have been cultivated nationwide by the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development in order to lead and drive the construction of small towns across the country, with characteristic industries as the leading role and characteristic environment as the highlight, with their own characteristics and vitality.Characteristic town is a new direction of economic development, which has obvious demonstration and development potential. Its construction promotes the organic combination of new urbanization and Rural Revitalization. The development time of Characteristic Towns in China is relatively short, and the development gap of small towns in different regions is large due to different geographical locations and economic differences. It leads to blind contrast and unbalanced development in the process of town construction. Now China is at the initial stage of leading the new normal with supply-side structural reform. While appropriately expanding aggregate demand,we will actively adjust the industrial structure. While optimizing the excess and backward production capacity,we should also promote the transformation and optimization of traditional industries.Improve the quality and efficiency of industrial development and realize industrial modernization.Under the overall arrangement of the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Housing Urban-Rural Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, characteristic towns have developed rapidly. The Yangtze River Economic Belt is the core of China’s economy. It is of great significance to study the rural areas, the foundation of its economic development. This paper taking the typical economic space of the Yangtze River economic belt as the research object, using the data points, road network data and statistical data of the Yangtze River economic belt of characteristic towns in the Yangtze River Economic Belt to study and analyze the development of characteristic towns.Arc GIS software is used to process the geographic space and social and economic data of characteristic towns, extract the basic data of the Yangtze River Economic Belt from regions, urban circles, provinces and industrial structures, and then sort out and study the social and economic information, road network density, spatial distribution and other information of the Yangtze River Economic Belt at the spatial scale. And then through the characteristic town spatial data processing, statistical data of 2015 on the Yangtze river economic belt in space,to obtain the spatial data, the GDP of the Yangtze river economic belt and use the extract of the Yangtze river economic belt to space vector data connection, thereby gaining the Yangtze river economic belt characteristic town’s GDP spatial data and network data and spatial data of industrial structure.Moran’s I index was used to obtain the correlation between the characteristic towns of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the regional GDP data and the spatial agglomeration characteristic index of the characteristic towns.By comparing the spatial scales of urban circle, provinces and Yangtze River Economic Belt, the paper provides some basis for the research on the development and pattern evolution of characteristic towns to a certain extent. The main conclusions are as follows:1.From the point of view of industrial structure, the characteristic towns of the Yangtze River economic belt are the key points on the secondary and tertiary industries, and have initially completed the transformation from traditional agriculture and handicraft industry to modern industry.Among the 55 characteristic towns, only 2 towns mainly focus on agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, accounting for2.4% of the total.Among them, the number of characteristic towns dominated by tourism industry is the largest, accounting for 26.47% of the total number, and concentrated in the upper and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. There are 13 characteristic towns with cultural industry as the main focus, which are evenly distributed in 8 provinces of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, such as Hubei,Jiangsu,Zhejiang and Guizhou. The number of characteristic towns based on emerging information industry is the same as that based on health, and they are distributed in Sichuan,Shanghai and Hubei provinces.Characteristic towns with manufacturing industries are mainly concentrated in the Yangtze River Delta region that includes Shanghai,Jiangsu and Zhejiang.2.From the perspective of spatial agglomeration, the region with the highest point density is the Yangtze River Delta including Jiangsu,Zhejiang and Shanghai, which is the hot agglomeration area of characteristic towns in the Yangtze River Economic Belt; The eastern part of Sichuan Province is the sub-density area of characteristic towns in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Jiangxi,Hubei,Hunan,Guizhou,Yunnan,Chongqing,Anhui and other regions have a small number of characteristics of small towns scattered Agglomeration. The spatial distribution characteristics of characteristic towns The Yangtze River Delta presents the spatial distribution pattern of "one axis, two wings" in the Yangtze River Delta with Shanghai as the axis and Jiangsu and Zhejiang as the two wings. The spatial distribution pattern of "one large number of small towns" and "one large number of small towns" is highly concentrated in the whole region.3.From the perspective of the spatial distribution correlation between economy and characteristic towns.Based on the spatial correlation analysis of the characteristic towns in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the space where they are located, the Morani index is 0.66,which indicates that the characteristic towns.their spatial economy have strong spatial correlation and agglomeration, that is,the agglomeration of characteristic towns is related to the GDP location of the region.Z score is about 12.9,indicating that it is 12 times of standard deviation. The results are distributed at both ends of the normal distribution.Combining with the positive value of Moran ’i index,it can be concluded that the results are distributed at the right end of the normal distribution, which is a spatial aggregation type.P value is 0,indicating that the result is100%not generated by random data, and the result is reliable.4.From the perspective of the influence of road network density on the development of characteristic towns,it can be found that the spatial distribution of characteristic towns is consistent with the traffic axis. The higher the road network density is,the closer the distance to the traffic line is,the more characteristic towns will be.The farther the distance from the traffic line, the fewer the number of characteristic towns. Therefore,it can be inferred that most characteristic towns take traffic conditions into account in the process of establishing them. The characteristic towns of the Yangtze River Economic Belt have a high spatial coincidence with the traffic axis, which indicates that the traffic conditions have a significant influence on the development of the model characteristic towns.
