The economic development of a city depends on the development of theurban transportation system, especially the construction of a transportation hubis of great significance to city construction. In recent years, the transportationhub built around high-speed rail stations has become a new growth point in cityconstruction. However, regional development problems have also occurred asnew high-speed rail cities like mushrooms sprung up.This paper studies a series of urban traffic space optimization problemscaused by the construction of the transportation hub of Beijing-ZhangjiakouHigh-speed Railway Xuanhua North Station, including the location selection ofthe underground passage to connect the central area of the ancient city blockedby the ancient city wall of Xuanhua and Xuanhua North Station,as well as theissue of changes in the road planning of the new city.As the environmental background the traffic space at the junction ofXuanhua North Station and the ancient city was to activate. The purpose of it isto explore how to ensure its pull effect on regional development from theperspective of traffic space optimization around the completion of the newhigh-speed railway station, and avoid traffic problems in the original plansduring the development of the junction space in the future. The preparation process for activation starts from macro-urban city andmicro-architecture levels, respectively solving the problems of preparing theexternal road environmental conditions required for the activation of thejunction space and the distribution of people in the traffic space of XuanhuaNorth Station as the activation center. The main process of activation includes adjusting the road structure aroundXuanhua North Station and the distribution of surrounding business, andredesigning the roads in the plot.In order to make the distribution of peopleflow meet the expectations of the development of the junction space, thedistribution of business types meet the development needs of the surroundinghigh-speed rail stations, and the roads in the plot improve the flow of trafficfrom the micro level. This article uses space syntax as the main research method to highlight theimpact of human instinctive wayfinding on traffic efficiency. The researchmethod of spatial syntax quantification is used to measure the relationsbetween road capacity and people’s choice of road, and the result of spatialrelationship changes of spatial structure optimization is intuitively judged bynumerical changes.Different analysis methods are adopted for the macro-citylevel and the micro-architectural level. From the macro level, axis analysis andline segment analysis are adopted, and the road selection degree is analyzed andoptimized through the comparative analysis of data and the interpretation ofspatial syntax principles. From the micro level, visual integration analysis andvisual depth analysis are used to indicate the direction for the optimization ofpedestrian flow lines and spatial structure, and the optimization results areverified by the changes of intelligibility values after optimization and agentsimulation. Finally, the macro-city’s requirements for the construction of transportationhubs are combined with the micro-level of the traffic flow design in thetransportation hub,and plans for the activation of the traffic space around thehigh-speed rail station that adapts to the urban development process are proposed,so as to avoid the previous problems occurred in the high-speed railnew city development.
