| The art of mural painting in China is a treasure of our painting art,with colorful works after long years of incubation.The earliest rock paintings were formed between10,000 years ago and the following 20,000 years,from the end of the Paleolithic to the beginning of the Neolithic.And since the Han Dynasty,Dunhuang,which has served as the Central Plains’ gateway to the West,has produced the unique Mogao Cave murals,which are the precipitating place for many cultures.The Mogao caves at Dunhuang feature a wide range of animals,some of which are central to the Buddhist story of the "equality of all beings," while others are part of the Silk Road caravan,recounting the hardships of the ancient Silk Road.The muralists of the past used a variety of animal figures to express a wide range of emotions and atmospheres,some of which are not well known but are witnesses to the culture of the Mogao Caves.In this paper,we interpret and study the animal images in the Dunhuang Mogao Caves,extract the wonderful animal images,and use modern design methods,such as illustration design,character design,expression pack design,and pattern design,to make their cultural connotations more interesting and easier to be perceived and loved by the public.At the same time,the design will be applied to the related derivative cultural creative products,taking the advantages of online sales methods,APP design,as the electronic sales medium of the creation carrier,to build the brand of "Silk Road Spirit Animal" and improve the publicity benefits.The purpose of this design study is to extract and creatively transform the unique meaning of the animal paintings in the Mogao Caves and integrate their connotations with the design to guide the public to experience the four animal images in the Mogao Caves,including the well-known IP "Nine-Colored Deer".It is hoped that this will bring more attention to the cultural and artistic treasures of the Mogao Caves. |
