Due to the rapid development of China’s economy, the citizenization of farmers is accelerating, and farmers’ demand for funds is also increasing.A large number of rural labor resources are gradually flowing into other fields other than agriculture and forestry. The differentiation of rural households has become a prominent phenomenon in China’s rural areas, that is,the occupational nature and income level of rural households show great differences.Due to the high risk and weak quality of rural land(forest land)itself, the weak ability of farmers to accumulate funds and the lack of appropriate collateral, formal financial institutions have a serious phenomenon of reluctance to lend to farmers, farmers financing difficulties have been restricting the development of China’s "three rural".In this context,a new round of collective forest rights system reform was launched nationwide in 2003,and the subject reform in 2018 has been successfully completed in pilot counties and cities, and has played a demonstration role to other regions suitable for carrying out related businesses. The new round of collective forest right system reform clarifies the forest property right, lays a good foundation for the supporting forest right mortgage loan policy, and facilitates the market operation of forest right. As an innovative rural financial product, forest right mortgage loan provides farmers with funds for forestry investment and development, and also provides new ideas for the capitalization of forest right. Therefore,it is of great practical and theoretical significance to explore the impact of farmer differentiation on the willingness of forest farmers to mortgage their forest rights.Based on the data of 354 households in four cities(Heyuan,Meizhou,Shaoguan and Zhaoqing)in Guangdong province, this paper empirically analyzed the impact of household differentiation on the willingness of forest farmers to mortgage their forest rights by using structural equation model(SEM).The results showed that the impact of the characteristics of household differentiation on the willingness to mortgage forest rights was significant at the 1% level, and the willingness to mortgage forest rights increased by 0.684 units for each unit of the characteristics of household differentiation. At the statistical level of 5% and 10%,the degree of occupational differentiation and income differentiation had a significant positive impact on the willingness of forest right mortgage. In addition, among observable variables reflecting other latent variables, age, education level, total area of forest land, number of household labor force, understanding of forest right mortgage loan, credit experience and other variables have a significant impact on the willingness of forest right mortgage loan.On this basis, the corresponding policy recommendations are obtained.
