Translation has been playing a pivotal role since the beginning of exchanges among different countries, let alone in such an era of increasingly deepening globalization.Legal translation is an important part of it.This translation practice report attempts to apply appropriate translation methods to legal texts based on the translation of the Competition Act from the perspective of Skopos theory.According to Skopos theory, the process of the whole translation and the method of translation are determined by the purpose of the translation project. There are three basic rules, the Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule. The author analyzes his translation text from the lexical level and syntactic level in the case study. The translation difficulties at the lexical level include professional vocabulary, polysemy and modal verbs, and at syntactic level, long sentences and passive voices are taken into consideration. In response to these difficulties, the author combines literal translation and free translation, and adopts translation methods such as adding, deleting, word order exchange, and conversion of the words.Eventually, the obstacles are overcome one by one and an authentic, natural and smooth translation emerges.According to the case study,an appropriate translation method can be chosen based on three rules of the Skopos theory, through which the target text can reflect the purpose of communication, obtain acknowledgements from readers and embody the coherence and logic of the legal texts.
