With the close contact between Myanmar and China,the number of people who are learning Chinese in Myanmar is increasing.According to social needs,Confucius Classroom at Fuqing Language and Computer School in Mandalay,Myanmar(also known as "Fuqing Confucius Classroom")has opened many types of Chinese teaching centers,such as in monastic education schools,private school,government University,government organizations,Chinese-funded enterprises,hospitals,,etc.Fuqing Confucius Classroom is the first Chinese school in the world to open a Chinese teaching center at local monastic education schools.Since 2014,Fuqing Confucius Classroom have been successfully established as Chinese language teaching centers in 22 monastic education schools in Mandalay,Naypyidaw,Bagan,Pyinoolwin,Sagaing and other major regions in Myanmar.The Chinese teachers of Fuqing Confucius Classroom are obliged to go to the 22 monastic education schools to teach Chinese to the monks,nuns,teachers and students.This research was completed during the period when I served as the general manager and part-time teacher at the Chinese teaching centers set up at 22 monastic education schools by Fuqing Confucius Classroom(also known as "monastic Chinese teaching centers").Since 2014,22 monastic Chinese teaching centers have been opened,and 8 centers have also been closed.This research mainly uses questionnaire survey method,interview method,participation observation method and other research methods to investigate the current Chinese teaching status of the 14 centers that are still open,and also investigate the reasons of the 8 centers that have been closed.I divided 14 centers into 5 categories according to the function of Monastic education schools.One representative center was selected from each category,and all students survey was conducted on this 5 centers,25% students of the other 9 centers were randomly conducted according to the each teaching class.A total of 500 students were selected from the temple school for questionnaire survey.A total of 19 Chinese teachers who are send to 14 temple schools by Fuqing Confucius Classroom were selected for questionnaire survey.A total of 519 teachers and students were surveyed.This thesis can be divided into four parts: the first part is an introduction to Fuqing Confucius Classroom,22 monastic Chinese teaching centers and the closed 8 Chinese teaching centers;the second part is the investigation on social attributes,language skills and language proficiency,language use,language attitudes,Chinese learning motivation and learning strategies of Chinese learners at the 14 centers that are still open;the third part is the investigation on social attributes,teaching arrangements,teaching activities and teaching suggestions of Chinese teachers sent by Fuqing Confucius Classroom to 14 centers;the fourth part is to find out the specific problems in Chinese teaching and learning of the monastic Chinese education centers,and put forward some teaching suggestions.I believe that this research will not only provide a certain reference for improving the quality of Chinese teaching and learning of Fuqing Confucius Classroom monastic education schools Chinese teaching centers,but also can provide on Chinese teaching in Buddhist countries in Southeast Asia similar to Myanmar. |
