A Comparative Study On The Texts Of The Elementary Comprehensive Teaching Materials Of Chinese As A Foreign Language

Abstract/Summary:
The elementary stage of Chinese as a foreign language is the introductory stage for learners to learn Chinese.At this stage,learners have a low level of Chinese and mainly use Chinese textbooks for systematic learning.Therefore,an excellent elementary textbook for Chinese as a foreign language is very important for learners.The compilation of Chinese textbooks has always been a difficult problem,and scholars have been discussing issues such as what kind of concept should it adhere to and what should be the outline.Therefore,this article takes "Hui Tong Chinese Reading and Writing"(Volumes 1 and 2)and "New Practical Chinese Textbook"(Volumes 1 and 2 of the second edition)as the research objects to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the text content.This article adopts the methods of comparative analysis and data statistics to examine the compilation of the two textbooks in five aspects: text layout,topics,functional items,situational items and cultural items,and analyzes the number distribution,arrangement order and specific content of each item.The advantages and disadvantages of the two textbooks are discussed.The study found that the text layout of "Hui Tong Chinese Reading and Writing" reflects the writing characteristics of the textbook "focusing on functions and taking into account the structure".The topics of the text take into account daily life and social interaction,and the content is targeted and contemporary.It sets up close to real communication situations.The language structure and functional items are presented in the life situation,but the number and order distribution of specific items are slightly insufficient.The text layout of the "New Practical Chinese Textbook" embodies the concept of "structurebased,highlighting functions".The topics and functions of the texts are developed on the basis of language structure,and there is a problem of ignoring functions and situations in order to show the language structure.Finally,considering the advantages and disadvantages of the compilation of the two textbooks,This article puts forward suggestions for the compilation of elementary Chinese textbooks.
