A Practice Report On C-E Consecutive Interpreting Of Online Speech "Challenges And Countermeasures Of Artificial Intelligence Legal System"

In recent years,artificial intelligence,as a rapidly developing discipline,especially its applications and development in various disciplines,has attracted the attention of scholars at home and abroad.At the same time,consecutive interpreting,as a special communication method,furnishes convenience for those scholars who are studying the application of artificial intelligence.The ability of logical thinking is at the core of consecutive interpretation of legal English.In the process of consecutive interpretation of legal English,the logical combing of the source language and the logical expression of the target language hinge on the logical thinking ability of the interpreter.The interpreter’s strong logical thinking ability helps him to convey the meaning of the source language clearly,and make the audience of the target language react like the audience of the source language,whereas the weak logical thinking ability of the interpreter will cause the audience of the target language to be confused.This report has made the research on the practical experience of consecutive interpreting of online speech "Challenges and Countermeasures of Artificial Intelligence Legal System".The author discovers that the logical thinking ability is particularly vital when interpreters are performing consecutive interpreting for academic research in the field of legal English.This practice report records that the author,as a consecutive interpreter,found that the functional equivalence theory of American linguist Eugene Nida can effectively cure ail of the interpreter’s weak logical thinking ability leading to confusion in expression,after performing the consecutive interpretation.Therefore,solution tactics are proposed based on this theory.In this report,the author introduced the whole process of the practice report,covering the target audience,pre-interpreting preparation,interpretation process,difficulties encountered,and solutions.After analyzing the transcribed text,the author analyzed several ingredients for the illogical expression,covering the lack of key information,misinterpretation of professional terms,unreasonable sentence breaks,implicit Chinese expressions,disordered verb-object structure and impertinent adverb embellishment,and flirted with summarizing the corresponding interpretation tactics straddling logical deduction,specification on proper nouns,reconstruction of source language structure,explicit English expression,passive voice application and objectifying adverb appliance.The author hopes that this report can offer reference for subsequent consecutive interpreters to help them better carry out legal English interpretation activities and provide customers with higher-quality consecutive interpretation services.
